Birrarung: River of Mists and Shadows
At the heart of the Birrarung collection is the artwork by Simone Thomson, a Naarm-based (Melbourne) multidisciplinary artist and proud Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung and Yorta-Yorta Traditional Owner. The range is titled “Birrarung, River of Mists and Shadows”, invoking the mighty river of mists and shadows — the Yarra.
Simone’s practice draws on “abundant textures and colours of Country, along with the ancestral bonds she has to the Birrarung (Yarra River) and Dhungala (the Murray River)”.
